Thirty year old Bimala, originally from the district of Nawalparsi completed her studies in midwifery and then worked in various health care centers untill 2013 when she heard about the job opportunity in Tangye. Bimala arrived in Tangye in May 2013, where she along with 20 migrant workers building a government funded drinking water project had no access to health care of any kind.
Our partners at the Lo Gyalpo Jigme Foundation thought this was unfair. Hence our foundation provided Bimala with medicines and basic equipment which came to the formation of Tangye health post. Bimala now usually sees around five patients a day and their most common complaints, not unlike other patients in upper Mustang, are gastric disorders and joint pain. Bimala also manages family planning for eight of her female patients and has had one successful delivery.
